Hi, My name is Richard. I am a percussionist/percussion teacher and am currently a music student at MATC in Milwaukee Wisconsin. I have been taking lessons privately for a total of 10 years and have been playing for about 15 years. My biggest musical influences include rock, jazz, jazz fusion, funk, Latin, and electronic dance music. Those styles being my biggest influences they are also what im the most educated in although i'm more well versed in some then others im fully prepared to teach and cover these styles of playing. Also I am very supportive of practicing the snare drum alone without being on the drum set. My teaching philosophy is about having fun and what do like or want to do as a question for the student to ask themself and explore. If somone wants to play the drums as a hobby and bring in material they want to learn we could absolutley work on that, or if they want to learn to be a better music reader or work on more technical things to really amp up there playing i can definitely help with that. Or mabey you don't know what you want to do yet which is absolutely fine and i can help a student answer that question for themselves. Also if Anyone is a music student or wanting to explore other percussion instruments i do play and have a marimba at my location which is something else that can absolutely be worked on.
