Hey! My name is Eliot, I'm a multi-instrumentalist who teaches drums, guitar, piano, composition/songwriting, and music production through Logic and GarageBand. I am excited to work together on projects big and small, whether that be writing and recording a song, or an album, reading through a songbook or preparing for an important performance! I have been working as a music teacher for a couple of years now for a variety of programs, including acting as the music director of the ASAP Drama program in Philadelphia, and teaching in home lessons through Meridee Winters School of Music. I have been playing in bands and orchestras all my life, in a wide variety of styles, and look forward to sharing my experience with students through Taylor Robinson Music!
Eliot S. has over 2 years of music experience in the Lakewood area.
Eliot S. is proficient in and teaches Guitar Lessons, Drum Lessons, Keyboard and Piano Lessons, Song Writing Lessons, Record Engineer Produce .Degree and Field of Study:
What to expect in my Guitar Lessons
Emphasis on creativity and songwriting, learning and using new shapes and some standards along the way in a variety of styles. We will be working through a variety of scales, both for technique and for understanding theory.
What to expect in my Drum Lessons
We will work on fundamentals, like technique and rudiments, playing snare solos, etc., as well as working on playing through beat books in a variety of styles, from straight ahead jazz to blast beats. We will write our own material every week and practice improvisation as well.
What to expect in my Keyboard and Piano Lessons
Emphasis on creativity and songwriting, learning and using new shapes and some standards along the way in a variety of styles. We will be working through a variety of scales, both for technique and for understanding theory.
What to expect in my Song Writing Lessons
Students working with me on songs can expect a lot of questions and a lot of techniques and games that I have used for many years to get an idea started, or distill an idea to what is important about it, or even just finalizing the work and thinking critically about it. We will also discuss theory at length, and often pick apart songs that inspire them and analyze them. I also teach beginning production, and can work with songwriting students on getting their music on the computer, getting it presentable, and eventually getting it published.
What to expect in my Record Engineer Produce
I work predominantly with Logic though I used GarageBand for about 9 or so years. My lessons will revolve around understanding our basic leveling systems, as well as working through different effects we can use and learning how those effects are often used, and thinking about how we can use them creatively. We will also do some basic analysis of production techniques in their favorite songs.
