Michael has always loved music from an early age. He began playing the drums at the age of 4 and continued his education by playing in Jazz Bands, Concert Bands, Marching Bands, and Rock Bands throughout Middle School, High School and College. His musical influences include Elvin Jones, Buddy Rich, Matt Gartska, Neil Peart, John Bonham, Thomas Pridgen, Thomas Haake, and Metallica, among others. Michael 's favorite thing about music is having fun, and his favorite thing about teaching music is teaching other people how to find endless enjoyment in music. One of his favorite teaching experiences was teaching a 4 year old how to play “When the Levee Breaks” by Led Zeppelin. When taking lessons with Michael you can expect to learn the importance of proper hand technique, learn about any style you are currently interested in, all while having tons of fun. What to expect in my Drum Lessons
Beginner - Intermediate - Advanced
I am very versatile in all styles of music, including but not limited to Rock, Metal, Jazz, Blues, Hip Hop, R&B, Latin, etc.. In my lessons I like to emphasize the importance of learning proper hand technique, sight reading, consistent practice, as well as teaching people the importance of rudiments, and how those can be applied around the kit. I also like to teach people about whatever style they are currently interested in, whether it be learning a specific song just for fun, or preparing for a concert. This is a great way to help people find their own unique sound. I also love teaching people different ways of crafting their own drum solos, as well as teaching people tons of limb independence exercises and warm up exercises.
