Hi, my name is KEVIN and I am a classically trained composer and musician originally from California. I have been a student of music for over ten years. My musical influences range from medieval and renaissance composers to present-day music. My teaching style can best be described as dynamic, fluid, and understanding. My teaching philosophy can best be summed up by saying that I believe every single person can learn anything if there is determination, humility, and a courageous spirit to be willing to make mistakes and learn from those mistakes. In my lessons, you can expect to learn fundamentals about my specialty and the ability to grow as a musician both theoretically and practically. My students love that I am a patient and good listener and can guide students in the right direction. I primarily teach piano and mandolin but I can also teach beginning guitar. My approach as a teacher is to better my student's abilities as they better my teaching abilities. I often assess students' skills to find areas of improvement and I think a holistic approach is necessary for each student regardless of instrument or style. I believe the theory, aural listening skills, and technique are all fundamental to having fun and most importantly joy that playing music can bring to a musician.
