I believe in teaching people to be true musicians and tap into their own creative spirits, not just to be technicians at the mercy of what's written for them. Together we will learn the Art of Practice, which you'll be able to apply elsewhere in your life as well. I'm ready to share all the knowledge and understanding I've accumulated from my diverse artistic career. I have played guitar professionally for 15 years. This includes several bands of my own creation as well as stints filling in for rock, jazz, blues, and pop groups. For about 5 years in that span, I also played solo classical guitar and sometimes even got to perform at private events for some noteworthy clientele. In addition to my guitar work, I've played pro gigs on drums, and have done studio sessions on bass, keys, violin, and viola. I've composed hundreds of songs and arrangements over the years. I even sing a little, too! Currently, I've got my dream recording studio set up and spend my nights producing music. This is a great place to bring students because they'll have access to all my gear. We can even cross-train, let you try different things in order to give you a more complete musical sense. For adult students who have to juggle full-time jobs, I'll have reasonable expectations for you as far as how much time you can spend practicing but will still try to challenge you within that. I hope you'll feel truly enriched by working with me

Jon -Guitar Lessons New Orleans
I was connected with Jon through Taylor Robinson Music. My situation was unique as I'm in my mid to late forties with a family and work obligations/limited time, and have messed around with a guitar poorly for many years with not much to show for it except probably a lot of bad habits. Point being I wasn't a typical student and was hoping for a teacher who was able to help me kind of restart while also teaching me fundamentals and some theory meaning, I didn't need him to start teaching me major open chords or power chords, but definitely needed him to teach me scales, etc, while also keeping it interesting and light enough to keep me engaged enough to practice enough to make it all worth it. A tall ask, but after the first few lessons I was pleased with how things were going, and after many lessons, I have clearly improved and continue to do so. He has been extremely flexible with my schedule and overall easy to get along with. He provides some good analogies relating to some of my struggles as a beginner-ish guitar player that help me keep things in perspective. Again, seeing as I'm probably not the typical student, I think he's done a great job of adapting his teaching style to my needs as a student and I look forward to continuing my lessons for a long time. - - wrote on Mon, 26 Aug 2024
