Hi, my name is Alexandra and I am a singer and songwriter from New York, although I lived and worked in Miami for years. I have been a professional musician for over 10 years and a vocal coach for about 5. My musical influences include Celine Dion, Christina Aguilera, Amy Winehouse, etc. I also enjoy POP, R&B artists as well as classical and jazz. My teaching style can best be described as personal to each student, due to many years in the field I have had to learn many different styles of singing and use those techniques to make an extremely personal lesson plan for each of my students. My teaching philosophy can best be described by saying that I want to make you sound like the best version of you. In my lessons, you can expect to learn vocal control, vocal health, ear training, how to create a healthy daily vocal routine, and of course breath control. I like to share with my students their progress throughout our lessons. My favorite thing about teaching is seeing a student make a breakthrough and use the skill we work on together at live shows. My students love that I provide deep explanations when they ask questions and an explanation before I add something new into our routine. I primarily teach serious adults, but I can also teach younger students, and people who are not as serious. My approach as a teacher is to bring forward the natural abilities we all have, to help my students build their confidence in music and in life, and to bring joy to the technicalities of music. Thanks for taking a look at my profile. Hope to meet you soon!
Alexandra R. has over 5 years of music experience in the Jacksonville area.
Alexandra R. is proficient in and teaches Vocal Lessons, Song Writing Lessons .What to expect in my Song Writing Lessons
first we get to know each other where I ask questions like-what are your goals-what is your music education level-do you wish to sing professionally-If yes to you want to be a recording artist or sing live.-who are your favorite artists-what is your preferred genre to sing-what is your preferred genre to listen to After we finish our brief lesson I give them a couple easy warm-ups and ask them to sing me a song of their choosing. I make a detailed list of what I notice good and what I notice that needs work and we have a quick discussion on what our future lessons will look like. I have many students with different lesson plans depending on what they are looking to gain from our time together. some we work on specific songs they wish to perform. Others we work specifically on technique and vocal longevity. Others just want to have a more relaxed lesson experience and others want to work on their own personal songs, and learning how to harmonize and rework melodies.
What to expect in my Vocal Lessons
Brainstorming sessions, Word play, poetry writing, organization of thoughts. Learn how not to overthink the songwriting process. Work on chord progressions, creating a melody. Also how to make a chorus that stands out. Outline of what a song in their preferred genre looks like. How to make a song sound unique to you. How to perform this song live, and how to record the song as well. We will work on harmonizing, ad-libs, and adding spice to a melody.
Formal Education:
NYSMA, Florida Atlantic University Creative Songwriting and Voice.
Private Education:
Pop vocal lessons at school of rock in New York, Classical style vocal lessons, piano lessons, trumpet lessons.
Performing Experience:
Lead singer of a professional 10 piece band for 5 years. I have also been a recording artist for over 5 years.
Experience Teaching:
I began teaching vocal lessons in high school to help my friends who were struggling to find their voice. In college, I continued to teach to help make extra money and really fell in love. I continued to teach after college in the studios I was recording music in and decided to reach out and look for another job in vocal coaching. The impact lessons have on my students truly inspired me to dive even deeper into the coaching area. I began working with a company called Better Voice and I absolutely love working with them but am of course looking for ways to reach more students.
