Michael began playing drums and guitar at the age of 12 Over the years, he developed his skills further by studying drums, guitar, and ensemble jazz. He gained performance experience in the Boston area and on the road by playing at such venues at The Rat, CBGS NYC, The Paradise, The Channel, 9:30 club and with acts such as Pearl Jam, Lemonheads, EMF, Fugazi, 3rd Bass, Violent Femmes, Patty Smith, Sonic Youth, Soul Asylum and more... Though Michael can teach many different genres of music, his musical personal favorites are Levon Helm, Bernard "Pretty" Purdie, The Rolling Stones, Morphine, the band, The Band, Reggae, Nirvana, Ryan Adams which had a great influence on his style of playing. Michael loves music because it heals and brings people together and loves teaching music because I want people/kids to learn instruments and not just use a computer. Whether you are a beginner or a seasoned professional, Michael can help you expand and enhance your playing. Michael is excited to learn how he can help you reach your musical goals.
