About Me
Hi, my name is Liz and I am a mezzo-soprano based in New York City. I have been a student of music for 23 years. My musical training has been primarily in classical voice but I also teach musical theatre. My teaching philosophy can best be described by saying that I believe singing is an innate gift we all share. It's my job to find each student's unique voice so they can share their gift with others. My main focus in lessons is helping my students find their own unique sound. In my lessons, you can expect to learn about a myriad of subjects from diction in foreign languages to more specific details about the science of singing, but I like to find out my student's goals and tailor areas of focus based on those goals. I like to tell my students that great singing is like training your body to be a great athlete. It takes dedication and practice! It also takes patience and slipping up or making mistakes is all part of the process. My favorite thing about teaching is developing my student's talent and watching them grow. It's wonderful when something that was difficult a few months before is suddenly within their reach. My students love that I adjust my teaching to fit their specific needs and goals. I primarily teach classical techniques, but I can also teach musical theatre or pop-style techniques. My approach as a teacher is to identify the needs and goals of each individual student, figure out their learning style, and adjust my approach as best I can to fit their needs. Thanks for taking a look at my profile. Hope to meet you soon!
