I attended both Phillips University and Memphis University and received a Bachelors Degree in Music Education with an emphasis in Music Therapy

I began playing the piano (thanks to my mother teaching me) and performing in recitals at the age of six. In sixth I grade I became interested in the drums. I took lessons from a percussionist from the Indianapolis Symphony and joined the school band. Throughout my school years and college I performed in concert band, symphonic band, marching band, orchestra and jazz band. I also have experience in drum corps. As far as playing drum set I've performed in jazz groups, rock groups, country groups, rhythm and blues groups and contemporary Christian groups. Before leaving Kansas City I was playing every Sunday in church as part of a praise and worship band. I also play piano and guitar and have played both of those in church as well as in my music therapy work.

I have over 30 years of teaching experience primarily teaching drums and percussion but I also have taught piano up to an intermediate level. I believe in meeting the student where they're at, listening to what their needs are and what they want to accomplish and then helping them achieve success in accomplishing their goals. Music is a great outlet for expressing emotions and developing creativity and I believe what you learn as a musician can be applied to many other areas of life.
