Jingjing Q.

My name is Jingjing. I am from China and fluent in English. I finished my dissertation to complete my DMA (vocal performance) requirements at the UW. My DMA was completed in December 2021. I am an optimistic person with strong communication abilities, an emphasis on team spirit, and great organizational skills. While working at EHS-BNU, I took effective measures to maintain student participation in the boys' chorus. For example, I encouraged the students to be more confident, I selected musical works which would arouse their interest, and I conducted the rehearsals efficiently to maximize their time. As this team developed and succeeded in competitions, it more than doubled in size to more than forty students. Regarding teaching, I possess my own perspectives. Firstly, art instructors need to follow the objective law of pursuing natural beauty in teaching so that they can give full scope to students' creativity and artistic potential and cultivate students imbued with artistic personality. Additionally, I want to introduce students to a variety of music from around the world to reflect the centuries of musical evolution, so that their cultural horizons will be broadened. As a voice teacher, I will guide students to learn a broad repertoire from various cultural backgrounds and eras with different styles. Lastly, for advanced singing, knowledge of languages is essential. I can introduce students to songs in different languages to increase their knowledge and appreciation of world music. My native culture and experience allow me to bring a unique perspective to teaching.
