About Me

Quincy is an alumnus of Shenandoah University with a bachelor's degree in Music Education. He graduated with his performance certificate for jazz trumpet and jazz piano. Quincy played in the Shenandoah Studio Big Band, Little Big Band, Combos, and Concert Band during his four years at the university. He has also accompanied jazz vocalists, classical vocalists, and classical instrumentalists on juries and recitals while at Shenandoah. Quincy has always been interested in learning new things, whether it be new instruments, history, or techniques that can help students. He started playing trumpet in the second grade after his dad, also a trumpet player. Later that same year, he began piano lessons. Before college, Quincy knew how to play Piano, Trumpet, Trombone, French Horn, Tuba, Alto Saxophone, and Bass Guitar. Quincy looks to continue his education for his Masters in Jazz Piano Performance. He is excited to start a private studio with students of his own in the future.

What to expect in my Keyboard and Piano Lessons

- Intermediate - Advanced

For my Jazz Students, I like to introduce jazz theory as well as transcriptions and the actual playing itself. It is important to know why what you're playing works.

Formal Education:

Educated in music at Shenandoah, I studied under Robert Larson for piano, Matt Niess for jazz theory, and Craig Fraedrich for trumpet. Separately I've studied with Kayen Wilborn for Trumpet.

Performing Experience:

I have performed with the Matt Niess combo around Northern Virginia, as well as the Richmond area.

Experience Teaching:

I student taught in Loudon County during my last semester of college. I taught middle and high school bands. I also gave private lessons in the Richmond area.
