About Me

Drummer/percussionist, keyboardist, composer & teacher, Joe has a vast and diverse background as a performance artist. His many affiliations include Annie Haslam's "Renaissance", (opening for Moody Blues and Procol Harem) Producers Larry Fast, and Tony Visconti, keyboardists David Sancious and Patrick Moraz, jazz pianist Kenny Drew Jr, saxman Tim Eyermann, bassists Mark Egan, Chris Sullivan, singer/songwriter Mark Radice along with R&B group "The Brass Construction", Jon Carroll (Starland Vocal Band), and tours of Brazil & Japan with Annie Haslam and Mark Lambert.

Joe has conducted music workshops for "Music for Many" and "Culture Corner" with renowned storyteller Christine Campbell. Joe worked from 1996 - 2001 as a "Staff Artist" with ARTS GENESIS, an artist outsource organization which places teaching artists in the New York/New Jersey public school systems.

After moving to Los Angeles in 2001, Joe has  performed with jazz musicians Putter Smith, Eddie Oliveri, Jack Bruce, Quentin Dennard, Kevin O'Neal, Tim Emmons, Jeff Littleton, Trevor Ware, Joe Gaita, Bill Markus, Otis Hayes, Carol Chaikin, Jeff Richman, Barry Zweig, Jamie Findlay, and vocalists, Sweet Baby Jai, Cathy Segal Garcia, Barbara Sfraga, Carolyn Martinez, and Judy Wexler among others.

Starting in the summer of 2006, and continuing into 2008, Joe has been conducting arts-in-education workshops for "Theatre of Hearts Youth First" - at schools, and learning centers in the greater Los Angeles area.

Joe has scored both theme and source music for a variety of American Film Institute thesis projects. Joe also scored the music for the award winning films: "Stone Mansion" (currently running on PBS) and "Sunday Morning Stripper", (PG rated) which is currently running on SHOWTIME. (1st place in SHOWTIMES' SHOWCASE AWARD)

Joe's music can be heard on "The Great Commision", which aired on the SHOWTIME network in 2004.  Joe also scored the music for "Pants in the Family" which aired on SHOWTIME in 2007.

Performing Experience:

1976-1978:
Performed & recorded with Mark Radice & the “BRASS CONSTRUCTION” on United Artists Records.

1978-1980:
Recorded as drummer: demos for Shirley Bassey & Phillis Hyman.

1979:
Performed with Jon Carrol of the “STARLAND VOCAL BAND” (“Afternoon Delight”)

1981: Drummer in off-broadway show “Lenny”

1981-1987:
Performed & toured throughout the United States with “SPECIAL DELIVERY”, a top R&B show band.

1988 to 2001
Recording & performing with numerous artists in the NYC and surrounding areas.

1989 to 2001:
Recording & touring with “RENAISSANCE” including a tour of Japan in 1992, and a tour of Brazil in 1998. Includes performances with guest keyboardists:
David Sancious and Patrick Moraz.

Played on the RENAISSANCE recordings:

1992:
Performed with saxophonist: Tim Eyerman, MCA recording artist.

1992: Performed in the show “RABBIT SENSE” with “TADA”, a childrens musical theatre troupe in NYC.

1993-1995:
Performed & toured the United States with “ROSENSHONTZ”, a popular pop/rock group specializing in rock “n” roll for kids. Performed on the live video release: “TEDDY BEARS PICNIC”, recorded in Boston before 10,000 people. (video available upon request)

1995:
Performed in 1995 at the CHIME FESTIVAL in Los Angeles with ROSENSHONTZ, country artist Waylon Jennings, & comedian Cheech Marin among others. (Childrens hospital benefit)

1994-1995:
Performed with jazz pianist: Kenny Drew Jr, Antilles recording artist.

1995:
Performed in Rio De Janeiro, and Sao Paulo, Brazil - with the Mark Lambert Group, sponsored by Brazilian actress: Sonia Braga.

1995 to 1998:
Teaching drums & percussion at Montclair Kimberly Academy Middle School under Richard Reiter (Music Department head)

1998 to 2001:
Staff teaching artist with ARTS GENESIS.

1998 to 2001: Teaching and conducting workshops for “Music For Many” & “Culture Corner” with storyteller Christine Campbell.

2001 to 2003: Original music score for Amercian Film Institute projects: "Guilty By Character", "Gunner", "Mozarts Effect", "Cotton Hill", and "Covetous".

2002: Original music score for: Malibu SURFRIDER Foundation documentary.

2003: Scored and performed music for “Sunday Morning Stripper” (currently running on SHOWTIME 2006)

2004: Scored and performed music for “STONE MANSION” (currently running on PBS 2006)

2004: Scored and performed music for SHOWTIME produced film: “The Great Commision”.

2004: Performed with jazz pianist Kenny Drew Jr in Los Angeles.
