James is an avid performer and composer for classical guitar. Currently pursuing his Bachelors degree in Guitar Performance from Kennesaw State University, he studies under Mary Akerman. He has performed in masterclasses with world-renowned guitarists such as Michael Newman, Francois Fowler, Adam Foster, Matthew Slotkin, and the Tantalus Quartet. Completing his Associates degree in Guitar Performance, Mr. James studied under Matthew Cochran, a world-renowned solo artist, as well as founding member of the Tantalus Quartet.
Though James enjoys the intricate study of classical guitar, he has not forgotten his roots. Sitting on an old coffee table, listening to his dad beat on an old Alvarez acoustic, James never forgot his heritage. He currently is a multi-instrumentalist for up-and-coming folk singer, W.L. Bishop, playing Guitar, Bass, and Keyboards. He has lead Rhythm and Blues bands (complete with self written horn lines), jazz trios, blues trios, and multiple rock bands, both original and cover bands. James is just at home playing blues guitar as he is playing shred metal, jazz, acoustic, and classical.
James is also an accomplished arranger and composer for the guitar. He has arranged many pieces for his clarinet and guitar duo (Duo Monte' Carlo). He enjoys composing for the guitar in many different styles, writing jazz charts, as well as, rhythm and blues songs and classical pieces.
