David is a freelancing trumpet player and teacher in the New Orleans and Baton Rouge area. In College, David attended Arizona State University studying under the world renowned trumpet soloist David Hickman. While in Arizona, David studied many areas of classical music such as: competition solos, brass quintet, wind-band, bach-chamber ensemble, mariachi-trumpet-trio, and orchestral. After recieving two degrees in music performance under professor Hickman, David decided to move back to Louisiana to learn and perform more styles of music. While living in Baton Rouge, he learned the styles of hip-hop, funk, R&B, blues, reggae, ska, and jam-band. After three years of this, David decided he wanted to learn a more traditional approach to the New Orleans style jazz on the instrument. Currently, David is living in New Orleans playing with multiple groups such as Pocket-Aces Brass Band, Rewind(wedding reception band), Bob Ross quintet(jazz combo), and Captain Green(orginal funk). In the future David hopes to have learned every style of music available to the trumpet.
