Hi, my name is Mark and I am a percussionist from New Orleans Louisiana. I have been a student of music for 9 years. My musical influences include College Marching Bands and Drumlines and I also enjoy solo percussionist as well. My teaching style can best be described as Slow paced and hands on. My teaching philosophy can best be described by saying that I simplify the art of Marching percussion. In my lessons, you can expect to learn Basic rudiment referencing out of the classic 40 drum rudiments, stick holding posture and unique practice methods. I like to tell my students Take their time. My favorite thing about teaching is getting to see my students truly evolve in the their musical skill levels. My favorite performance was the 2021 National battle of the bands in Houston Texas. I’ve been in marching percussion since I was in seventh grade, and also played flute and I was in sixth grade. I’ve marched all my high school years were my primary instrument was traditional chest tenor drum. I Marched 2 years in college attending Jackson State University, and Talladega College. I was awarded section leader all my years of high school and I was section leader of the talladega College, great tornado marching band, tenor drum section. I also was awarded section leader of the New Orleans all star summer marching band. I primarily teach marching snare but I can also teach chest tenor, leg tenor, and bass drum as all marching percussion instrument require the same basic rudiments.
