My name is Dylan, I’m a Tampa native ad I’m 30 years old. I started playing guitar at around 13 years old after becoming obsessed with music. I have more or less played a few hours at least on average every day since then. I picked up bass guitar shortly after as well and when I was old enough I joined a local band and started performing. I’ve performed hundreds of times for thousands of different people all over Florida. At first I was just interested in being a guitarist but as time went on and needs changed I started focusing on my vocals and record engineering and then I was a front man in another band I started. Around then I also started working as a sub for a friend of mine that ran sound at a few local venues and learned how to use a board and mix in a live setting. Since then, I have started writing on my own more and more, filling in whatever instruments I needed to get the song done, accidentally becoming extremely proficient at composing in the process. My current musical project is just a self contained “band” where I write/program drum parts, record bass, guitars, and vocals, and mix it all myself. Overall, while I lack true proper musical education, I still feel extremely confident that that is not really what is important. With the abundance of free information available online in this modem age, in my opinion. Overshadowing training at all points is the drive to create, and the passion to hone the craft. Playing music isn’t that different from being a samurai in all reality when it comes to the training involved. Patience and discipline will get you further than most anything else I’ve found, personally.
