Born into a musical family, Chris began taking Piano lessons at age six, beginning what became lifelong journey of exploration into the world of music. At age eight, he joined his elementary school orchestra, playing French Horn there for the next three years. At age twelve, he started Guitar lessons. At age sixteen, he began studies in percussion and bought his first drum set. Chris attended the University of Massachusetts @ Lowell as a Music Education major. His primary focus was percussion, studying under Fred Buda. Over four years, he supplementally studied Clarinet, Coronet, and Cello. He was also an active composer and performer in the Lowell, MA. and Boston areas, as a member of various ensembles, with genres ranging from Folk to Progressive Rock, to Jazz. Chris taught private music lessons on various instruments for ten years, with students ranging in age from 6 to 60. During that time, he also enjoyed two years as the music Program Coordinator and Instructor at a Montessori preschool. He moved to Colorado in late 2002, where he continues to study, perform, compose, and record music on various instruments.
Chris D. has over 10 years of music experience in the Peyton area.
Chris D. is proficient in and teaches Guitar Lessons, Bass Guitar Lessons, Drum Lessons, Keyboard and Piano Lessons .Degree and Field of Study:
What to expect in my Keyboard and Piano Lessons
Study begins with an overview of the instrument, the initial focus being on proper technique, strength building, and understanding of rhythmic fundamentals (i.e., subdividing Whole Note through Sixteenth Notes). Gradually, at the students own pace, the lessons will include more reading and advanced theory (scales/modes, harmonic and rhythmic structure), strength/coordination exercises and techniques. The goal is to cultivate a thorough and well-balanced understanding of musical fundamentals and proper technique, which will translate to any genre.
