About Me

I am a classically trained Soprano, with years of experience in performing in operas, large choral works, and small early ensemble works. Although I am classically trained, I enjoy teaching and exploring different genres, like jazz, R&B, pop, and more! I believe that every person receives a multitude of benefits from learning and performing music. Music is a universal language, and it helps people to connect, learn about their surroundings, and dive into a deeper meaning of reality.

Formal Education:

I began voice lessons when I was 17, during my senior year of high school. From there, I decided I wanted to be an opera singer. I attended the University of Northern Colorado in the year of 2018 and graduated in May of 2022. I received my Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance. At this university, I was incredibly fortunate to study with Dr. Mary Kathryn Brewer for private voice. In my second year, I began performing in the operas with my school and began working with Professor Brian Luedloff and Dr. Edward Rothmel. And, in my last 2 years, I discovered my love for Baroque and Early music. I began studying with Dr. Derek Chester in his ensemble for early music.

Private Education:

When I was 17, I began voice lessons with Mrs. Kathy Klamm, in Colorado Springs. This is where I began to grasp the basic understanding of singing properly. I learned to breathe correctly, use my full instrument, and gained confidence in my performance. In college, I studied primarily with Dr. Mary Kathryn Brewer. This is when I began to dive into difficult repertoire, and challenged my musical skills. Adding on opera theatre gave me the experience I needed to act and take on a full singing role. Opera gave me confidence to perform and act on instinct, and trust my choices. Finally, singing in a baroque ensemble gave me the skills to hone into other singers, and blend to make one voice. I was able to craft my musicianship and collaborate with other singers to create a blended sound.

Performing Experience:

In my undergrad, I performed in many operas such as, The Mother of Us All, Three Penny Opera (Penny Peachum), Il Mondo Della Luna (Clarice), The Taming. I have sung in many large works like Brahms' Requiem, Carmina Burana, Faurè's Requiem (soloist), The Messiah (soloist), Holst's The Planets, and more! I have performed with the University of Northern Colorado, Greeley Philharmonic, New England Philharmonic, Colorado Springs Philharmonic Orchestra, and other wonderful ensembles. I have had the great opportunity to perform on wonderful stages such as, Carnegie Hall, Union Colony Civic Center, Pikes Peak Performing Arts Center, and many more. In college, I performed in Opera Theatre with UNCO, Northern Lights A Capella, choir ensembles: Women's ensemble, Concert Choir, and URSA Early Music Ensemble. During my last 2 years in college, I sang with a local church choir at First Congregational Church of Greeley. And currently, I perform with a new local group called Choral Song of Colorado Springs, where we sing choral style pieces from classical genres to folk to jazz and blues!

Experience Teaching:

I began teaching private voice in my second year of college, and had primarily younger students who loved to sing! From then, I helped a few colleagues with the music and realized the passion I have for teaching voice. I began teaching at Colorado Springs Conservatory in early 2023, and have worked with young students and teenagers. I have now opened up my own voice studio calledVocal Lab, where I have taught young students, teenagers, and adults!
