Stacy began playing guitar at the age of 16. Over the years, he developed his skills further by taking one-on-one guitar lessons from a local guitar hero. He gained performance experience in the Roanoke VA area by playing at theatres, various local festivals, weddings, and private functions. He has had the good fortune to open for such artists as John Renbourn, David Bromberg, Muriel Anderson, Stephen Bennett, John Doan, Thom Bresh, Buster B Jones, etc. Stacy is also a recording artist-since 1990 he has recorded no less than 8 albums (CDs) for both six-string guitar and a lesser known instrument, a Harp Guitar. Though Stacy can teach many different genres of music, his musical personal favorites are traditional blues and jazz, classic rock, and contemporary fingerstyle guitar. Stacy loves music because it touches the souls of so many and loves teaching music because imparting the knowledge of music to others supports his mantra of "music self-played is happiness self-made." If you are interested in "roots" music, bluegrass, old-time, Celtic, or blues music, Stacy is your one-stop shop. From flat pick styles of Doc Watson to fingerstyle musings of the late Michael Hedges. He can accommodate both beginners and advanced players' needs; young and old(er) learners.
