Mike has always loved music from an early age. He began playing guitar at the age of 15 and continued his education by pursuing a music performance degree. Mike started his musical journey at COD, taking private guitar and piano lessons along with music theory and ear training classes. Mike then transferred to UIC to study with some of the finest musicians in Chicago. He continued taking his final advanced music theory and ear training classes along with 2 years of group piano classes, 3 more years of private guitar lessons as well as playing in the UIC Jazz band. His musical influences include blues players like Eric Clapton, Kenny Burrell, and Herb Ellis. Also, groups like The Beatles, The Kinks, The Strokes, Pink Floyd, ELO, Led Zeppelin Wings, John Lennon, George Harrison, and The Rolling Stones. Mike's favorite thing about music is the peace of mind it provides and his favorite thing about teaching music is seeing students reaching their set of personal goals and the happiness music brings to families. One of his favorite teaching experiences was working with a small group of high school students forming a band and seeing them confidently play their first few shows for an audience. When taking lessons with Mike you can expect a thorough, low-pressure teaching experience tailored to each student's individual needs. He looks forward to getting to know you as a student and learning about your specific goals, interests, and learning styles. Book a lesson now and get connected right away! Submit
