Qyu began playing drums at the age of 3. Over the years, he developed his skills further by practicing and playing in church. He gained performance experience in the Oakalnd Bay Area by playing at many events and well ans in church. That turned into becoming a professional touring musician with artist such as Jeniffer Hudson, Raphael Saddiq, Tony ToninTone’, Too Short, DJ Quik, Richard Ashcroft, The Coup, Omarion, Avant just to new a few. Though Qyu can teach many different genres of music, his musical personal favorites are hip-hop, funk, R&B, pop, rock, and gospel which had great influence on his style of playing. Qyu loves music because it can bring untity to many different backgrounds and it brings a feeling only playing it or hearing it can explain. Qyu loves teaching music because watching others grow into the musician the desire to be has always been something I enjoyed helping facilitate. Whether you are a beginner or a seasoned professional, Qyu can help you expand and enhance your playing. Qyu is excited to learn how he can help you reach your musical goals. Beginner - Advanced - Intermediate
1. Warm-up exercises to loosen up muscles and improve coordination. 2. Learning basic drumming techniques such as grip, posture, and stick control. 3. Practicing rudiments to develop dexterity and timing. 4. Studying different drumming styles (rock, pop, gospel, funk, R&B etc.) and learning appropriate grooves and fills. 5. Working on sight-reading skills to interpret drum notation. 6. Playing along with music tracks to develop listening skills and band playing. 7. Receiving constructive feedback and guidance on their progress. 8. Setting and working towards personal musical goals. 9. Engaging in creative exercises to foster improvisation and musical expression. 10. Having fun and enjoying the process of learning and making music!
