Hello, I'm Eamonn! I would love to pass on my decade of knowledge and experience with drums and percussion to any willing students! I've loved music for all my life, but I've been especially influenced by artists like Miles Davis, Stevie Wonder, Frank Zappa, Soft Machine, Herbie Hancock, YMO, Brian Eno, Charles Mingus, Nick Drake, and many more. Regardless, I'm open to music from any genre and time. My method of teaching is easygoing and encouraging. I teach by ear and with the aid of repetition, reading music, and music theory, depending on the student's skill level. I can teach drumming techniques, rudiments, fills, beats, and more in a wide variety of styles and genres. I look forward to working with you!

What to expect in my Drum Lessons
Beginner - Intermediate
As an instructor, I am easygoing and encouraging. I teach by ear and example, with the aid of repetition, sheet music reading, and basic music theory, depending on the student's skill level. I can teach drumming techniques, rudiments, fills, beats, and more in a wide variety of styles and musical genres. I will do my best to help my students find their musical voice, and to help them achieve their goals; whether they're just starting out, or if they're a more experienced drummer who wants to improve their skill and technique.
Formal Education:
I have a BA in Music, with a focus in percussion, from Florida Southern College, which I attended from August 2017 to May 2021. Before that, I attended H.B. Plant High School from August 2013 to May 2017.
Private Education:
I received drum set lessons from Evan LeFloch from 2014 to 2017, jazz ensemble classes and gigs from and with Matt Weihmuller and Tom Brantley at the Patel Conservatory/Straz Center from 2014 to 2017, classical percussion lessons from Tim Perry in 2017, the same from Dr. Dave Coash at FSC from 2017 to 2021, classical composition lessons from Dr. Stas Omelchenko from 2019 to 2020, classical piano lessons from Dr. Fen-Fang Chen from 2017 to 2020, and jazz piano lessons from Dr. Jeffrey Benatar from 2020 to 2021.
Performing Experience:
I played drums and vibraphone with student jazz ensembles at Patel/Straz, including a few off-campus gigs, from 2014 to 2017. I was a drummer and percussionist in Plant High's marching band, concert wind ensemble, orchestra, concert percussion ensemble, and jazz ensemble from 2015 to 2017, under the direction of Brian Dell. I was the pit percussionist for multiple performances of the stage musical version of Disney's "Beauty and the Beast" at Patel/Straz in 2017. At FSC, from 2017 to 2021, I played in regular concerts with the symphony band under Dr. Jo Jossim, jazz big band and small combos under Paul Butcher, and later Dr. Jeffrey Benatar, and the percussion ensemble under Dr. Dave Coash, as well as for various one-off student chamber ensembles. I also occasionally sang baritone as part of the men's chorus in the Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia fraternity from 2018 to 2021. I performed solo percussion and keyboard pieces in PMA concerts in 2019 and 2020. Finally, I was the primary backing/concert drummer for SoCo Productions' student artist concerts, mainly performing various pop and rock songs from 2017 to 2021. Through SoCo, I also played two off-campus gigs backing a student singer/guitarist in 2019.
Experience Teaching:
As a summer camp counselor/music instructor with School of Rock Tampa, I assisted in teaching children and teenagers the basics of performing in a rock band. With the older kids and teens, we worked on further honing their musical skills. I gave individual drum set lessons and helped students learn songs to perform together.
