What to expect in my Vocal Lessons

Beginner -

Focusing on having fun through the hard part of learning to sing, until the hard part is over, I try my best to go as easy as possible with exercises, repetition, and repertoire. The hard part of singing is learning notes, because we can’t see the instrument. I require my students to have a 3-ring binder, a notebook or loose leaf paper, and a pencil. I assign music of different genres. For example, if you come to me for pop music, expect to sing a bit of musical theater, because different types of music teach different things that all can be used in any genre, but are easier to experience in others. I teach out of my studio for many reasons, with the biggest one being the controlled environment. My studio is in my apartment and I live with my husband, a musician as well. I can control the risk of distractions. I also think that music lessons can occasionally make a student feel vulnerable. I want to make sure I can provide a safe space where a student can make mistakes freely without worrying about if mom is secretly recording from the other room. (I am allowed to say that because that was my mom haha).

What to expect in my Keyboard and Piano Lessons

Beginner - Intermediate

My students learn from a book series that I guide them through during lessons. We do work outside of the book as well such as rhythm games, call and response and starting to build repertoire after learning to read music. I teach out of my studio for many reasons, with the biggest one being the controlled environment. My studio is in my apartment and I live with my husband, a musician as well. What to expect in my Vocal Lessons

- Intermediate - Advanced

We still have fun, but get more serious about the music, because we can! My favorite thing to teach is details like breath support, diction, placement, and perfect tuning. Review:

Great Instructor!

I only worked with Vanessa for a semester, but I will tell you one thing: my voice grew so much that I wish I could have taken lessons with her longer. She is a very encouraging teacher that helps you let go of those inhibitions that can get in the way of your voicerecommend. Good for beginners all the way to college students-and even beyond! She knows how to teach!

Nessa is an amazing vocalist. Starting to learn vocals at a music center, my daughter, soon loved Nessa's method and style of teaching. She continued learning under her and began private classes soon after, and has been every week since. Nessa has an amazing knack to work with children, get their attention and also make learning music a lot of fun, which is hard to find and she makes it look easy and my daughter loves it! Nessa not only teaches, but also looks for opportunities to get my daughter exposed to not only going to concerts to listen, but sometimes brings opportunities for her to perform on stage when she is ready. Overall, Nessa is amazing and we are continuing classes with her virtually after she moved out of St Louis to pursue new opportunities. Adarsh Bungley wrote on Fri, 02 Aug 2024
