About Me
Hi, my name is Andrew. I am a bass trombonist from Las Vegas, Nevada. I have been a student of music for thirteen years. My musical influences include symphonic and soloistic repertoire with Trombonists such as Charles Vernon and Jim Markey, both of whom I study with. I also enjoy cellists and pianist such as Rostropovich and Ashkenazy. Some of my favorite genres outside of orchestral include Jazz, Choral Work, Alternative, IDM, Rap, Grunge, and Classic rock. My teaching style can best be described as holistic and approachable. My teaching philosophy can best be described by saying that I focus on fundamental aspects of music making, expressing one’s self, adopting a healthy and positive mindset towards performance and practice, honing discipline and developing a high level of capability on the instrument relative to one’s self. In my lessons, you can expect to learn how to become an improved musician, instrumentalist and hopefully, human being. I like to tell my students it’s not about being better than others or moving in a linear fashion, rather on average being better than you were last week both on a micro and macro scale. My favorite thing about teaching is helping to inspire others, imparting knowledge and learning along the way with and from my students!. My favorite performance was handel’s suites arranged for trombone trio on my senior year degree recital. My students love that I promote relatability and fun along with a certain level of challenge. I primarily teach trombone, but I can also teach euphonium and to a certain extent Tuba. My approach as a teacher is to highlight one’s natural abilities and inclinations while strengthening and honing one’s perceived weaknesses, whether mental or physical on the instrument. Thanks for taking a look at my profile. Hope to meet you soon! All the best, Andrew
