Degree and Field of Study:
What to expect in my Guitar Lessons
Like many bassists, I first played guitar, and continue to practice guitar to this day. I like experimenting with different approaches to rhythm guitar, as well as trying to get better at writing clearer and faster lead solos. My lessons on guitar will emphasize getting consistent tone with proper fretting and picking technique to produce good tone as well as prevent long term injury. Beginners to intermediate players will learn to tune their instrument, the basics of theory, and how to apply them to songs you want to learn (regardless of difficulty level for each piece). Intermediate lessons will focus on more in depth understanding of theory and scales, various types of picking methods, and alternate voicings for chords.
What to expect in my Bass Guitar Lessons
Bass is my favorite instrument to play, and I strive to learn new techniques and improve my playing every day. My focus will be to give you the tools to go on your musical journey, sharing practices and tips to elevate you and your playing style, always emphasizing proper technique to prevent long-term injury. Beginner lessons will focus on tuning, music theory fundamentals, and understanding the structure and method behind the basslines to your favorite songs. Intermediate to advanced lessons can cover anything from complex slapping, walking basslines, tapping, whatever the next step is for you in the world of bass. I especially love experimental approaches to bass, so don't be wary of wanting to learn whatever style of music you like. Even if there's no bass guitar track, there's a bass part we can make that will fit into practice.
