Melanie B.

Melanie Mel teaches piano/keyboard, voice and music technology. She holds an MFA in Music Education from Boston University, with an emphasis in music technology. Mel began playing piano at four and sang in her first musical in 6th grade. She received many awards and regional opportunities, held the position of drum major, and was heavily involved in musical theater and drama in high school. She received scholarships for multiple colleges for both music and theater. She also has performed in many bands of different styles, and her favorite gig was opening for Juno Reactor at the Bluebird Theater in Denver, CO. Melanie is trained in the Suzuki method through book 3, but typically uses the Bastien method for young students. Melanie teaches student-centered lessons, where students learn music they want to learn, or gain appropriate skills to learn their favorites. She has been successfully teaching online for 6 years, with an 90% retention rate. She will travel to your home, or teach in her own home studio as well. She works with classical, contemporary and jazz music. Music history and theory are also specialties. Mel's approach to voice is also student-centered, working with music that is in good range for the student's voice, and focusing on body and vocal awareness. She uses the online app, Soundtrap to record vocals together. Mel also teaches production on the Ableton DAW, turntablism, MIDI studio setups in her own studio. Melanie has a passion for teaching music and works with all ages and levels 6 years and up. She is upbeat and motivating. She hopes to work with you to achieve your musical goals soon!
