Hi! My name is Ian, better known online as ZNoteDrums! I'm a drummer originally from Memphis, TN, and am now happily living on the East Coast with my new wife. I currently play an electronic drum kit in my home studio area, where I also live-stream improvisational drumming three times a week. In addition, I'm doing my best to stay engaged with the local music scene. I've been a student of music for 24 awesome years, picking up drums when I was 14 years old. For 6 of those years, I've taught lessons across 2 states privately. During school, I participated in Marching Band, Jazz band, Concert Band and also traveled across state lines in my college praise band to perform at various venues. I firmly believe that if you can sing in the shower even off-key, you have the inner rhythm to learn about drums. Our very own heartbeat dictates that there's rhythm inside all of us, it's just a matter of bringing it out into the open and translating it to your limbs! My primary goal with teaching is to get my students from beginning to enjoying drums and playing along with their favorite music as soon as possible. I'm versed in many styles, ranging from Samba Jazz to Funk/Fusion Drumming, so students can expect to learn numerous techniques from me. From double bass drumming to traditional and matched grip sticking techniques, I'm ready to equip students to play in the environments of their choice. I love seeing my students break new ground and achieve their goals, going on to form their own play styles.
