Zachary began playing drums at the age of 9. Over the years, he developed his skills further by drumming for his church for 6 years at Austin Oaks.. He gained performance experience by playing at such venues as Disney World with acts such as the Blue Man Group. Though Zachary can teach many different genres of music, his musical personal favorites are rock, country and funk which had great influence on his style of playing. Zachary loves music because he enjoys the act of making it and creating rhythms and sounds that immediately make people nod their head or get lost in thought. Zach also loves teaching music because the joy he sees on people or children’s faces once their practice comes to reality. What to expect in my Song Writing Lessons
Beginner - Intermediate
I have written tons and tons of songs and there is a method to the madness. Of course teaching some technical tricks of the trade, finding the right words, and sometimes you don’t have to rhyme. Also we would explore the different ways to attack a verse musically or lyrically and then when regarding the chorus, we would be studying the different dynamics used in different types of music. When it comes to songwriting it’s like putting a puzzle together, but once it is finished, it seems as it was put together by someone else.”
What to expect in my Drum Lessons
Beginner - Intermediate
As a drum teacher, I like the lessons to start with learning some warm ups, and working on some charts and trying different drill combinations. As lessons progress we will be picking songs we would like to learn and combining those songs and the warm ups. We would also set goals for the future. There are many different way to use dynamics in drumming, as well. These are the types of things we would explore
