Hi, my name is Christopher and I am a percussion instructor from Newton NC. I have been a student of music for over a decade. My musical influences include Drum and Bugle Corps international and I also enjoy orchestra/concert music. My teaching style can best be described as influential, and adaptable. My teaching philosophy can best be described by a quote from Canadian astronaut and author, Chris Hadield “Ultimately, leadership is not about glorious crowning acts. It's about keeping your team focused on a goal and motivated to do their best to achieve it, especially when the stakes are high and the consequences really matter. It is about laying the groundwork for others' success, and then standing back and letting them shine.” -Chris Hadfield In my lessons, you can expect to learn a lot about fundamentals, high level demanding music and fun exciting new ways to play your instrument in a creative musical attribute. I like to tell my students that people don't become the best from luck, they become the best because they are willing to learn, grow, and adapt. My favorite thing about teaching is seeing the progress, and the smile on my students faces when they overcome an obstacle that at the time feels unbeatable, but in the end its something that they now think is easy. My favorite performance was my all-country music performance in Orlando florida. It was where high schools from all across the country would come to perform and compete for a spot in San Diego High school “Master of the music arts”. My students love that I am approachable, and easily understandable. I primarily teach percussion instruments and marching instruments, but I can also teach guitar.
