Review About Me
I am a bassist who was raised in Greenville, and started playing music seriously in High School. I love many styles of music, especially jazz, blues, bluegrass, and rock. Some of my favorite musicians are The Allman Brother's Band, Led Zeppelin, Charlie Parker, Miles Davis, Jaco Pastorius, Primus, System of a Down, Robert Johnson, Duke Ellington, Ella Fitzgerald, the list goes on! My teaching method focuses on technique and learning how to play with other musicians well. As a bassist your most valuable asset is to be able to understand music quickly so that you can play basslines that work well with the music. I love improvising and writing music so I encourage students to become comfortable making their own music, especially in the role of the bass player. In addition to learning songs they love, students will learn how to adapt these songs and play them with their own style. This leads to students being able to play with friends and make a successful band. Playing with others is fun and that's what music is all about!

I am currently a Jazz Studies major at Northwestern University. I also attended the Greenville Fine Arts Center for 3 years in High School studying jazz and music theory.
Private Education:
I took 4 years of private bass lessons in High School learning all popular music styles in addition to jazz, and some classical training.
Performing Experience:
I have played in many rock bands in the past including Tina, The Cartogrophers, Sweet Moses, and KumbaYeah.For three years I have led a jazz and blues group in Greenville, B Natural Jazz Quartet. We play paying gigs at restaurants, bars, private events, weddings, etc. I was also a member of the Fine Arts Center Jazz Quartet in high school, representing the school performing at various functions in Greenville. In Chicago during school I work as a freelance musician performing at clubs and bars around Chicago.
Experience Teaching:
I currently teach Hip-Hop and other popular musics to the kids at the Cook County Juvenile Detention Center in Chicago, helping them write their own music and learn how to play in these genres. I also direct the Community Jazz Ensemble at Northwestern University.
