Hello, my name is Joseph preferred name Josie, I’m a drummer from Oak Park, now in Chicago. I have been a student of music for 4-5 years. My musical influences include rock, all the way to jazz and funk. My teaching style is simple and patient. My teaching philosophy is that anyone can learn how to play the drums. I will help with this by breaking down the basics of drumming as best as I possibly can. In my lessons, you can expect to learn rudiments, basic-advanced drum grooves, syncing with a metronome, writing your own drum music, and fun flares to add to your drumming. I like to tell my students smooth is fast. My favorite thing about teaching is being able to play music with others, and watching people evolve in their music ability. My favorite performance was a Erykah Badu Tiny Desk Concert. I primarily teach drums, but I can also teach a very small amount of the bass/guitar.
