Award Name:
What to expect in my Keyboard and Piano Lessons
The students will have an enjoyable learning experience and learn to play the songs they love. The program consists of learning to read their notes, studying their flash cards, learning to sight read in all variations of music and learning their chords. They would be introduce to technic, theory and have the opportunity to perform in the piano recital twice a year.
Formal Education:
Part of my training involved working in the music area with the children for my church. I also played the organ for the meetings when the regular organist was out and also directed the music for the meetings when the chorister was absent. I was also the choir pianist and worked under the direction of Peggy Sculthorpe and Donna Schultz.
Private Education:
I recieved my training under Mr. Willis E Ley at Lee Studio which involved a wide range of music involving classics, popular, standard, patriotic, blues and jazz. He taught me the different chord variations which involved using minor and major chords. I was taught to sight read and to improvise. I play by ear as well as by note. I also recieved training in music theory. He brought me up to the college level before my lessons ended. My training lasted for eighteen years.
Performing Experience:
I played for the School for the Richmond Ballet and for the Heritage School of Dance. I played for the Schools Recitals and also did piano solo's for my church. I'm currently one of the organist for the Eastern Star Orginization and am a member of a dual Musical Act known as Thomas and. We have performed at various locations for the past ten years.
Experience Teaching:
I've taught hundreds of lessons over the past decade. I mostly provide private, one-on-one instruction.

Review from Sonia Gregory-Terrell
My instructor Sandra greeted me very well, very nice person. For me knowing very little about playing piano, she gave me hope from my first session that I can do this and feel confident. I really like how she explains the details as we go along. Thank you Sandra, I will continue with you. Anonymous wrote on Fri, 30 Oct 2015
