Hi, my name is Marcus and I am a band director from Miami, FL. I have been a student of music for 11 years. My musical influences include HBCU Bands, Drum&Bugle Corps, Military Bands, Soul Music and I also enjoy all types of music. My teaching style can best be described as relaxed yet effective. My teaching philosophy can best be described by saying that I set a standard then meet you where you are to raise you to those standards. In my lessons, you can expect to learn beginning techniques, reading, songs that you like, whatever else you would like to learn. I like to tell my students “The harder and smarter you work now, the faster you’ll improve”. My favorite thing about teaching is the fact that you can learn more through teaching. My favorite performance was Rolling Loud with Denzel Curry and Good Morning America with Daddy Yankee. My students love that I am relaxed and allow them to be themselves.
