About Me
Hi everyone! My name is Harrison, and I’m a pianist, performer, and mentor with a deep passion for music. I’ve studied piano for over a decade, training at the Michael P. Hammond Preparatory Music Program at The Shepherd School of Music at Rice University since 5th grade. Under the guidance of Dr. Scott Cuellar 2 and Dr. Richard Marshall 2019-Present, I’ve developed advanced piano techniques, participated in prestigious masterclasses, and performed in monthly recitals at Duncan Recital Hall. Thanks to my dedication and hard work, I’ve received full-ride scholarships to this program every year. My musical journey has led me to numerous competitions, where I’ve won top awards at local, regional, state, and international levels, including 1st Place – Clear Lake Symphony Youth Concerto Competition 2024. 1st Place – Marielle Ogletree Young Artist Concerto Competition 2024, 1st Place – Cypress Woods Young Artist Concerto Competition 2024, 1st Place – Houston Teachers Music Association Piano Solo Competition 2022, Finalist – Texas Music Teachers Association Piano Solo & Concerto Competitions multiple years One of the highlights of my career so far was performing Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No.1 with the Fort Bend Symphony Orchestra 2024 and Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No.2 with the Clear Lake Symphony Orchestra 2024. These performances challenged me technically and musically, pushing me to new expression levels. I’m currently preparing Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No.3—one of the most challenging works in the repertoire—with hopes of performing it shortly. Beyond solo performance, I also contribute as a trumpet player, pianist, and leader in the Cypress Woods Wind Ensemble and Marching Band. As a Drum Major, I led the band to 9th place at the 2023 Bands of America West Houston Regional Championships. I helped maintain the ensemble’s high standards at the Midwest Clinic International Band and Orchestra Festival 2024. My repertoire spans various composers, including Chopin – Ballade No.3, Etude Op.10 No.4, and Scherzo No.3. Beethoven – Sonata Op.10 No.3, Sonata Op.78, Liszt – Paganini Etude No.5, Rachmaninoff – Etude Tableau Op.33 No.7, Piano Concertos No.1 & 2, Prokofiev – Sonata No.7, Bach – Prelude & Fugue BWV 858 As an instructor and mentor, I love helping students develop technical skills, musical artistry, and confidence. I know the frustration of struggling through difficult passages but also the incredible satisfaction of mastering them. Music has been my greatest passion, and I look forward to sharing that excitement with my students. Whether performing on stage, competing, or guiding others, I always strive to connect people through music—because that makes it all worth it.
