Michael G.

Michael has always loved music from an early age and grew up watching his uncle perform guitar, banjo and mandolin. He began playing guitar and piano at the age of 8 and then enrolled in his school band at the age of 10, playing saxophone in his high school concert band, marching band, and jazz bands. Michael then went on to receive his Bachelor’s of Music Education at the University of New Mexico where he studied saxophone with Dr. Eric Lau and jazz with Glenn Kostur. He taught general music, band, ukulele, and choir to students K-12 for 5 years during which time he also performed in bands ranging from jazz to country and Latin styles. Michael’s favorite thing about music is how it makes him feel when he plays and listens to the music he loves, and his favorite thing about teaching is seeing his students learn to play the music that they love, and have a great time doing it!
