Hi, my name is Derrick and I am a drummer from Missouri. I have been a student of music for over 17 years and love an assortment of music including Jazz, Rock and Metal. My teaching style is a bit of a hybrid approach focusing on my students interests and providing foundational building blocks for them to reach their goals. My teaching philosophy has always been that anyone can play the drums no matter the age or musical experience. In my lessons, you can expect to learn a variety of drum patterns for all styles of playing. You can also expect information and practice packets with differing rudiments to build your drumming portfolio. My favorite thing about teaching is navigating obstacles and overcoming particularly tough pieces of music with my students! My favorite performance was playing a show with bands I had listened to for decades! My students love that I provide handouts they can take home on their first lesson!
