Hi, my name is Luis, and I play acoustic and electric guitar. I was born in Mexico, but I am now an American citizen. I have been a music teacher for twenty-five years. My musical influences include classical music, jazz, blues, progressive rock, traditional music from Latin America, and more. I mainly teach acoustic and popular guitar using classical techniques. In addition, I also teach electric guitar. My teaching style can best be described as helping the student discover his or her aptitudes and abilities, through gentle guidance. My students like me to tell them that patience and persistence are ways to achieve a goal. Practice and perseverance are key to playing an instrument. My teaching philosophy can best be described by saying “Don't give up, remember that failing is part of training. Failure is the natural path to success.” My favorite thing about teaching is that the student achieves his goals, through enjoyable classes. My students love that I give them exercises, tasks, and pieces that they can play easily, to move forward. My approach to teaching music is my passion for teaching and dedication to the student. In addition, I tailor lessons to each specific student's case to meet the needs of each student at their learning level and age.
