1.5 Years
Karolina started playing clarinet at the age of 12. Since then, she has continuously attended various music schools, starting from her hometown, PÅ‚ock, then going through Warsaw Public Music School of Józef Elsner, New York Bard College Conservatory of Music, and Florida Frost School of Music at University of Miami. Karolina’s interest in music began with movie scores. Since hearing “The Potter Waltz” by Patrick Doyle from “Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire”, she decided to delve deeper into music. She started playing in the local community band and then got accepted to the Public Music School of Karol Szymanowski in PÅ‚ock. After four years, she moved to Warsaw in pursuit of a new clarinet teacher. She studied with Krzysztof Zbijowski, principal clarinetist of the National Opera of Poland, at the Public Music School of Józef Elsner. In 2017, she was awarded a full scholarship at Bard College Conservatory of Music, NY, where she pursued both a Bachelor of Music in Instrumental Performance, and a Bachelor of Arts in Computer Science simultaneously. During that five year double-degree program, she studied clarinet with David Krakauer and Pascual Martinez Forteza. After graduating from Bard, Karolina received a prestigious award at Frost School of Music – the Henry Mancini Institute Fellowship, which provides additional educational opportunities during the program. Her teachers at the Frost School of Music were Margaret Donaghue and Mark Nuccio. During her musical journey, she has received additional scholarships and awards including a 2014 scholarship with Morningside Musicbridge in Calgary, Canada, a 2016 scholarship with the European Music Campus Orchestra which worked in cooperation with the European Union Youth Orchestra in Grafenegg, Austria, and awards in multiple competitions in Poland. Karolina tailors clarinet instruction to each students' individual needs, level of playing and musical interests.
