Hi, my name is Gabriel and I am a pianist, singer, songwriter and music producer from the Gallatin Valley. I have been a student of music for 11 years. My musical influences include blues, jazz, pop/rock, classic rock, and musical accompaniment. After taking time away at Montana State University, I’ll be completing my undergrad at UofMW in the fall. At Belgrade High, I was my choir director’s TA for 2 years, which allowed me to gain early experience in the teaching field. I also founded and lead a student barbershop group that still runs strong today. My teaching style can best be described as a structured yet friendly and freeing approach. I have proficiency with sight reading sheet music notation, aural perception playing by ear, solfège, guitar/ukulele tabs, and multiple DAWs Digital Audio Workstations. My teaching philosophy can best be described by saying that I teach people how to teach themselves in a gentle and constructive manner. In my lessons, you can expect to learn necessary and fundamental tools for learning, writing, and performing the music YOU want. My favorite thing about teaching is the rewarding feeling of knowing that the knowledge I’ve gained has not only been shared, but understood, and gets to be used to spark new and meaningful ideas in the world of music. My favorite performance was my senior year production of “Grease.” My solo, “Mooning,” won me awards for best actor and best performance. This one, among others, sparked a passion and drive to keep learning and experiencing music and other performing arts. My students love that I treat them like fellow musicians, learning and growing their repertoire. I primarily teach modern piano and voice, but I can also teach ukulele and guitar in a pinch.
