I’m an accomplished singer based in South Carolina, with over forty years of experience in performance and competition vocals. I trained at Southern Wesleyan University, and studied various genres of music, particularly choral and classical. I have garnered numerous accolades, including the Sarlin Arts award for Excellence in Music in 1996, and the Miss South Carolina Talent Bowl title in 1999 and 2002. I was a selected participant for the South Carolina All State Choir, Lakes and Mountains School for the Arts, and the Carolina Youth Chorale at Carnegie Hall. I was a pre-finalist for American Idol and Nashville Star in 2002. I was the National Anthem singer at the Ground Zero Memorial Ceremony in New York City in 2002, and also entertained U.S. troops in Iraq in 2005. I have served as the Children’s choir director at my church and I currently perform at events and venues throughout my community. I enjoy meeting new people, and sharing passion for music.

What to expect in my Vocal Lessons
Beginner students should expect positivity, inspiration, knowledge, and FUN! In these beginner lessons, they'll learn many thing First, we'll discuss their desire to learn, what brought them to voice lesson Then, we'll discuss their short and long term goals, what they hope to achieve, and how we can achieve them together. We will discuss posture and correct breathing techniques, which are essential to singing in many capacitie The use of the diaphragm is crucial as a singer, as it allows you to get good air support when powering higher notes, or belting. We'll discuss different vocal ranges, and types of voices, and determine which category the singer fits into. This would most likely change as the student progresse I would introduce the importance of diction and enunciation while singing, as it's important to understand what the singer is saying, and the message they are trying to convey. We will do vocal warm ups, scale exercises, and work on slides, vibrato, rhythm, pitch, tone, and musical theory (reading of sheet music). All of these are building blocks to becoming a better and more experienced singer. We will then work on two songs to be performed at the yearly recital, and any other place of their choice, depending upon their goals and aspiration We will talk about progress, and how they feel about their practice performance. We will discuss what we would continue to do, or may do differently for the next lesson. We would determine if there are any new goals that the student has in mind. Worksheets of musical theory will be taken home with the student, and they will be sent mp3s of scale progressions and any other songs they desire to practice in between lesson We will then decide what the student would like to accomplish for the following week.
