Hi, my name is Gordon and I am a local guitar player in Columbus, OH. My musical journey began when I was seven years old where I had my first guitar lessons and began learning musical concepts from my father over the years. Since then I have been exposed to trumpet, french horn, bass guitar, and voice study. My musical influences include Django Reinhardt, Jerry Garcia, BB King, Harry Valentino, Doc Watson, Prince, Jimi Hendrix, and many more. I also enjoy performing in the community in any way I am able, and I routinely accompany KJ The Cool Nerd in his performances in Columbus. My teaching style can best be described as client centered and my teaching philosophy can best be described by saying that I make sure I prioritize having fun! In my lessons, you can expect to learn: songs you enjoy, how to think creatively and make your own decisions, and enough music theory to assist with your understanding of music as a whole as it applies to your goals. I like to tell my students to focus on one concept as a time, and we will move at a pace that best suits your goals and intentions. My favorite thing about teaching is the sense of wonder I get to share with my students. Even if I teach a song more than once to multiple students, I am still thrilled to experience the magic of seeing someone finding joy in learning music they love for the first time. My students love that I know how to simplify songs that may initially seem out of reach, but I believe nearly any song could be simplified in a way to play the song easier without loosing the original tone and feel of the song. I primarily teach guitar, but I can also teach bass, voice, beginner keys, and beginner ukulele. My approach as a teacher is to empower individuals in their passions in order to be a better musician and overall a better version of themselves that they wish to become.
