Hi, my name is Benjamin and I am a guitarist from North-West Indiana. I have been a student of music since 1996. My musical influences include folk rock and CCM, and I also enjoy classical music and jazz. My teaching style can best be described as adaptive. My teaching philosophy can best be described by saying that I value building fundamentals and working toward personal, practical goals. In my lessons, you can expect to learn how to set real goals tailored to you and work toward them. My favorite thing about teaching is sharing my love for music with others. I primarily teach acoustic guitar, but I can also teach electric, bass, and beginner piano. My approach as a teacher is to consider your interests and form lessons around those. Formal Education:
I took music theory, voice lessons, and guitar lessons at Illinois Valley Community College before transferring to Huntington University to focus on Worship Leadership.
Performing Experience:
I have over a decade of performance experience in a contemporary church setting, including leading multiple bands, small acoustic groups, and solo performance. I've also played electric guitar for several local cover bands and bass for one other local Christian band some years before that.
Experience Teaching:
I've taught lessons for years to students of many ages, including kids as young as 7 all the way to first-time adult musicians. Most of my experience has been instructing teenagers on acoustic guitar, but I've also taught related lessons on technology such as live sound techniques for an audience mix and a broadcast mix.
