Mercedes began receiving vocal lessons at the age of 3, and piano lessons at the age of 7. Over the years, she developed her skills further by participating in local choirs and musicals, as well as obtaining a Bachelor's Degree in Music Education. She has instructed students in both public schools settings and through private vocal and piano lessons. Though Mercedes can teach many different genres of music, her musical personal favorite is Musical Theatre which had great influence on her style of instruction and performance. Mercedes loves music because of the power it has to heal people and communities. She loves teaching music because music is the greatest joy of her life, and she seeks to share the thrill of performing music and learning a new creative skill to the next generation.
