What to expect in my Keyboard and Piano Lessons
Being a Taiwanese pianist with training and education in both Taiwan the U.S. my varied educational background has undoubtedly backed me in developing my own teaching methods in many ways. From the beginning process, I would cultivate each student’s musical and technical artistry. The purpose of pursuing correct technique at the beginning is to make them develop a healthy and effective practice habits. However, for each student I use different technical methods, since each individual student has different physical movements. I also come up with new technical methods and share with them when encountering difficult passages within the piece. Overall, I don’t advocate one specific method and apply it to every student; I customize the exercises based on their needs. Moreover, I emphasize the proper utilization of fingering as employing appropriate and efficient fingering certainly contributes to the fluidity of the repertoire.

Experience Teaching:
I have over ten years of teaching experience, including group piano classes and private lessons. I have worked with diverse students from a wide variety of backgrounds, including Chinese, European, and American students. In addition to my work at the University of Michigan, I maintain a private studio. In December 2022 and April 2023, I held two recitals featuring students from my studio. I find working with different types of students both enjoyable and challenging, especially when tailoring my teaching methods to each student’s learning needs and levels. I have also taught private lessons for students of my former teacher as a guest artist at National Taiwan Normal University and was invited to give a masterclass for students in the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM), Singapore. In August 2023, I began teaching piano at Daycroft School in Ann Arbor. I believe these varied teaching experiences, along with my connections throughout the music world, will significantly aid in recruiting.
