23 Years
I am a self-taught musician, composer, and audio engineer who has real-world experience composing music for film/game as well as performance in rock bands. I began playing guitar around 23 years ago and quickly found myself writing music for my bands, including other instruments. Eventually I found myself recording my own music, learning the ins and outs of DAWs and various plugins and hardware tools. Having the ability to be a full-stack musician eventually led me to writing, recording, and mixing my own music for independent films and games.
Robert M. has over 23 years of music experience in the Virginia Beach area.
Robert M. is proficient in and teaches Guitar Lessons, Bass Guitar Lessons, Drum Lessons, Song Writing Lessons .Degree and Field of Study:
What to expect in my Song Writing Lessons
For students who already know a bit about their instrument but want to learn tips and tricks to create their own songs. I'll show you how to write songs for your instrument, or an entire group in any number of genres, from indie-rock to folk, metal to pop!
What to expect in my Record Engineer Produce
Expect to learn everything from music production to mixing music from someone who has experience in the field. Learn how to use your DAW with speed and efficiency, as well as how to use and understand all your tools such as EQ, compression, and FX.
What to expect in my Guitar Lessons
Expect lessons on anything you are interested in, from picking technique to music theory. I like to teach my students to teach themselves so that they eventually become independent learners. My focus is on holistic playing so that you aren't just a good guitarist, but a good band member and song writer.
Formal Education:
None! I have no formal training.
Private Education:
I have taken lessons from individuals for guitar. Beyond that, self-study has been my go-to. I have spent much time reading articles, books, and watching instructional videos to help hone my craft.
Performing Experience:
I played guitar and keyboards in several gigging bands. Some were hardcore, others were indie rock/screamo, and some were on the proggier side of things.
Experience Teaching:
I have been teaching in-person lessons almost as long as I've been playing guitar. More recently, I have been teaching more and more on Zoom, especially when it comes to recording and mixing.
