About Me
a Durham native who graduated from Northern High School in 2019. She earned her bachelor’s degree in music education with a concentration in voice and choral education from The University of North Carolina at Greensboro in 2023. She was awarded summa cum laude, the highest academic honor one can receive upon graduation. Her primary instruments are voice and guitar. Additionally, a Sigma Alpha Iota Alumna. Sigma Alpha Iota is an international music fraternity with a mission to encourage, nurture, and support the art of music. She is also a member of Delta Kappa Gamma, an international honors society for key women educators. Along with being a Teaching Artist, currently the music teacher at Fayetteville Street Elementary School in Durham. Outside of having a passion for music education and the arts, Ms.enjoys taking care of her cat named Raider, and spending quality time with her family and friends.

Formal Education:

Ms.earned her Bachelor’s of Music in Music Education with a concentration in Choral/General Music from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, where she graduated summa cum laude. During her time at UNCG, she studied under esteemed faculty including Dr. Brett Nolker in choral/general music education and Professor Clara O’Brien in voice. Her coursework and training emphasized both pedagogical excellence and vocal performance, providing her with a strong foundation in music theory, and vocal technique. She was consistently recognized for academic achievement, earning a place on the Chancellor’s and Dean’s Lists throughout all four years and receiving the Marilyn F. Griwnis Gray Scholarship from Delta Kappa Gamma, an international society for key women educators.

Private Education:

a passionate and dedicated music educator with a strong foundation in vocal performance and music pedagogy. Her private education includes vocal study under renowned mezzo-soprano Professor Clara O’Brien, whose guidance helped shape Ms. ’s technique, musicality, and expressive artistry. She also received specialized training in instrumental and general music education from respected educators Dr. Heather Graham and Dr. Constance McKoy, as well as choral education under Dr. Brett Nolker at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. These formative experiences, rooted in one-on-one mentorship with expert musicians, continue to influence Ms. ’s teaching philosophy—placing emphasis on individualized instruction, healthy vocal development, and a deep love of musical expression.

Performing Experience:

ings a rich background in vocal performance to her teaching, shaped by years of choral and solo experience. While earning her degree at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, she performed in numerous choral performances and participated in a wide range of concerts and collaborative events. As part of her vocal training, she presented a 30-minute classical voice recital, showcasing her technical ability and interpretive skill across a variety of styles and languages. Under the mentorship of Professor Clara O’Brien, fined her classical technique and stage presence, preparing her for both solo and group performance work. Beyond her collegiate performances, she has conducted and led student performances in public concerts—such as seasonal programs and community celebrations—highlighting her ability to bring music to life both as a performer and conductor. Her performances reflect a deep understanding of vocal artistry and a commitment to making music a shared, expressive experience.

Experience Teaching:

Ms.teaches Level 1 and 2 Choir at Kidznotes, a nonprofit music lessons organization, where she has coordinated performances and collaborated with orchestral programs to create meaningful musical experiences for students. Her current role is a General Music Teacher at Fayetteville Street Elementary School. There, she has designed engaging K-5 music lessons aligned with NC K-5 Music Essential Standards. Additionally, her background includes substitute teaching, student teaching at the high school level, and internships in middle and elementary schools have all shaped her adaptable teaching style.
