I have been playing the trumpet for about 9 years now and I am currently pursuing my Music Education degree at the University of Houston. I teach piano and all brass at the beginner level, as well as trumpet at all levels. In my experience playing the trumpet I always find that I progress much faster when my teacher guides me in the right direction, and leads me to making discoveries on my own, rather than giving me the answer outright. This is also the style of teaching that I find works best when I teach, as I believe it makes it much easier for students to understand technique and music. Something that really drew me to wanting to pursue teaching music when I was younger was observing the kind of connections and expectations my directors and private teachers had with students and how they pushed me and my peers to not only improve as musicians, but also be better people. This is the kind of inspiration and dedication I hope to instill in my students through my future career in teaching!
