Review About Me
I started playing percussion in the 3rd grade, idolizing drum set players for the energy and passion they brought to music. I began formal percussion training in 5th grade band, and started private drum set lessons in the 6th grade. I studied privately throughout middle and high school, and decided to study music in college. I attended Fort Hays State University in Kansas with a focus in percussion performance. I was the percussion section leader throughout the majority of my college career as well as holding the first chair in Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Winds, Hays Symphony Orchestra, Jazz I, Pep Band, Marching band, and Percussion Ensemble. Thoughout college I also performed with multiple groups on the weekends including jazz, funk, rock, and country, as well as maintaining a teaching studio of roughly 12 students a week. After I graduated with my bachelors degree in May of 2012, I relocated to Fort Collins, Colorado in hopes of continue my passion for music in performance and education.

Private Education:
I have taken lessons from Brandon Draper, who resides in Kansas City, MO. Brandon is known for his incredible skills on the drum set as well as world percussion. He teaches and Kansas University in Lawrence, Kansas as well as the Kansas City Academy. He can be seen Performinc in many groups across the country including Quixotic, Particle, Organic Proof, and many other side projects. Most of my private instruction has come from Dean Kranzler of Salina, Kansas, who teaches at Fort Hays State University, Bethany College, Kansas Weslyan University, and a large private studio.
Performing Experience:
I have played hundreds of gigs with a wide variety groups and performers. I pride myself in the ability to fit into any style of music. I enjoy going from playing timpani in a formal orchestra to playing odd genres of electronica, jam, and bluegrass. I have had the pleasure of playing with great musicians such as Alan Vizutti, Pete Zimmer, Brandon Draper, and Eric Gould.
Experience Teaching:
I have been teaching private lessons since 2004 to students from a wide variety of background. I have taught students from 5-50 years old, and students with special needs. I try to form my lessons to the needs and talents of each student. I try to connect with each student and find the right balance of hard work and fun.
