I started playing electric bass in my early teens. I grew up primarily on The Beatles and Motown. Since then, I became very interested in the electric bass virtuosos: Flea, Victor Wooten, Les Claypool, Jaco Pastorius, ext. Then, once I enrolled in a music performance program at college, I was introduced to both the great double-bass composers and virtuosos (Bottesini, Dragonetti, Koussevitzsky, Gary Karr, Rinat Ibragimov, to name a few) and all the other great composers of the baroque classical and romantic eras (Beethoven, Mahler, Brahms, Rachmaninoff, Mozart, Handel, Haydn and Shumann). I have a very diverse palate of musical experience, and know many styles of music very intimately. The most important thing I feel a music teacher is required to do is to maintain the student's passion for the music they love, while teaching them the fundamentals of music along the way.
