About Me
I've been playing classical guitar for about fifteen years, and percussion for almost ten years now.  I started privately but am now a senior as a classical guitar performance major at the University of New Mexico.  I play other styles, including rock, folk, and a little jazz.  In addition to guitar and percussion technique, I can also give lessons in music theory.  I also play percussion with a band called Lost Lingo, who recently won best rock band of Albuquerque (the Weekly Alibi), as well as the New Mexico Music Awards for our song, One Groove.  I love working with kids, and teach during the summers at Hummingbird Music Camp and Full Circle Summer Camp, both in the Jemez Mountains. Â
Miguel Or has over 17 years of music experience in the Denver area.

What to expect in my Guitar Lessons
Beginner - Intermediate - Advanced
Learn basic chords, fingering positions, and posture. Hopefully we will apply these basics to some popular tunes so practice is a little easier and more fun.
Formal Education:
5 years at the University of New Mexico, in the Music Performance Dept., under Michael Chapdelaine
Private Education:
10 years private guitar lessons with Brian Moore, also a former student of Michael Chapdelaine. I have also taken some lessons with drummers Brandon Draper (Kansas City), and Mark Clarke (Sante Fe), both of whom have recorded and performed with Ottmar Liebert. For the last two years I have been learning African rhythms with Master Drummer Laryea Addy (Ghana), who has taught and performed internationally.
Performing Experience:
I've performed with the UNM Guitar Quartet, as well as several other ensembles within the department. Six years of playing percussion with Lost Lingo (~50 shows/year). Lost Lingo opened for Jason Mraz in 2006. I also played percussion for about six months with a salsa band called Ciudad de la Salsa. 2 years of performing djembe and dun duns with the UNM African Dance class. Â
